Morimoto Maui is one of the two fine-dining restaurants in the Andaz Wailea resort hotel. Phone 808-573-1234.
Celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto, best known for Iron Chef fame on TV, developed the menu for Morimoto Maui restaurant. It integrates Japanese and western ingredients, and features sushi, but has numerous other choices as well. The eight pages are divided into cold appetizers, hot appetizers, salads, soups & noodles, raw bar, entrees, steaks, sides, sushi/sashimi, and maki. All the food I have eaten here has been fabulously delicious.
Morimoto’s is on the lower level of the beautiful new Andaz hotel, below the cascading pools. Many of the indoor and outdoor-terrace tables have great ocean views. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. The sushi bar is also open in the mid-afternoon. It’s a long walk down the outdoor stairways from the hotel lobby to the restaurant and back up again, and there is no elevator.
