Maui Arts and Cultural Center
Though the Maui Arts and Cultural Center isn’t a normal movie theater, they do often show outdoor films for free. Grab a blanket and some chairs, and come sit down with the kids under the stars. Food trucks and a full bar offer everything you might need.
Maui Arts is also the home of many film premieres (think surf films) as well as Maui Film Festival releases in the Castle Theater. See the MACC Calendar
Maui Ocean Center
The Maui Ocean Center has a new 3D Theater where they showcase their own film about humpback whales. This short film is worth visiting the aquarium by itself! Watching massive humpback whales show you up close what life-size means is beyond jaw-dropping.
Maui Film Festival
Each summer, the Maui Film Festival brings dozens of films and shorts to Maui, along with celebrities and film lovers. Films are shown under the stars in Makena, at the MACC in Kahului, and sometimes even on the sand. The films are curated by our good friend Barry Rivers, and he tends to only choose films with a positive message and potential impact on the world. Feel-good films, surf flicks, and powerful spiritual, environmental, and cerebral films foot the bill. But movies aren’t the only things on the calendar. Our film fest brings some of the best foodie parties in the State.
