Marlow primarily serves Neapolitan-style sourdough pizzas, with a variety of white and red sauce pizzas listed on the menu. Marlow’s menu also features a handful of Italian-inspired appetizers, like burrata and meatball en sugo. The prices at Marlow are reasonable for the portions and quality. One pizza can feed 1-2 people, and the appetizers are substantial.
Restaurant Marlow is owned by Maui chef Jeff Scheer and his wife, Kaili Scheer. Jeff was once the head chef for the highly-rated Mill House Restaurant, and in 2015 he was named Maui Chef of the Year. At the Mill House, Jeff designed a menu based on local, seasonal ingredients. Jeff’s love and knowledge of local produce have carried over into his most recent venture- Marlow. Marlow uses local produce and meats in most dishes. The farms where they source their produce are listed on the menu as well. Supporting local is clearly a priority at Marlow, and even several of the beverages available are made locally. In fact, Marlow offers beers on tap that were brewed right next door at Mahalo Aleworks.
The service at Marlow is friendly and remarkably quick. The restaurant does not take reservations, but the wait time isn’t typically too bad since the service is fast. Marlow’s pizzas are also popular for take-out.
Marlow’s interior is clean and minimalist. The space consists mainly of indoor seating with a handful of outdoor tables. The restaurant has an open layout and depending on where you’re seated, you can watch your pizza being made. You can also check out Marlow’s kiawe wood-fired pizza oven that was imported from Italy.
Overall, Marlow is a great addition to Upcountry, and the restaurant’s family-friendly, casual yet chic atmosphere is just what Pukalani needed.
