About The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas
This is a large complex, with eight 6-story buildings (390 rooms) on 16 acres. The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas opened in 2017, so it is newer than the close-by Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, which is an even larger timeshare project that opened ten years earlier.
There are one, two and three-bedroom units. Each is modern, beautiful, and well-appointed. The pools are very large and have interesting connected shapes, with treed islands and multiple areas of lounge chairs. One of the pools has a sandy beach and squirting fountains.
The Beach
The beach at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas is not very wide and has rough vegetation in some areas. But it is part of a much longer beach, so you can easily walk to better and wider sections along the beach. It connects at the Sheraton at Black Rock to the main hotel-resort area of Kaanapali Beach, which extends south all the way to the Hyatt.
What Is Nearby
One of the good things about staying at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas is the availability of nearby excellent restaurants. Mauka Makai is a wonderful restaurant right in the building. Pulehu and Auntie’s Kitchen are both just a few minutes walk south in the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas. Dukes is a five-minute walk north in the Honua Kai condo.
This is a great place to stay if you can book your room for a few days like you would book any hotel or condo. But there is just one thing that concerns me about staying at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas. I advise you to avoid attending the timeshare sales meeting that they will invite you to, no matter what free goodies they offer to get you to attend. At those meetings, they convince many people to buy a timeshare here, and in my opinion, those timeshares are sold here at such extremely high prices that they are not a good investment. There is a Westin on Maui that is not a timeshare, and that is the Westin Maui hotel on Kaanapali Beach.
