Casual and Fine Dining at Hula Grill in Kaʻanapali Maui
Hula Grill is the best restaurant in the Whalers Village shopping center in the middle of Kaʻanapali Beach. In my opinion, it is also Maui’s “most Maui-est” restaurant. By that I mean, when you are dining at Hula Grill, the food, setting, view, and ambiance, all make you really feel like you are getting the full Maui experience. Hula Grill has a casual section on sand called the “Barefoot Bar” (lunch and dinner) and a fine-dining more expensive section called the “Dining Room” (dinner only, but sometimes open for overflow seating at lunch). Hula Grill’s menu includes fresh fish and other choices with innovative preparations . The location is great for people-watching, as the tourists walk by on the Kaʻanapali Beach sidewalk. Tables are open-air with beautiful views of the ocean, especially at sunset. Prices are lower, and food is more casual, in the Barefoot Bar part of the restaurant, which is on a sandy floor. Reservations are needed at dinner in the Dining Room section, which has more upscale food.
A bonus you get by dining at Hula Grill is free entertainment. They have live music, usually Hawaiian style, at various times on most days. (Call them for the latest schedule.)
