About Hotel Wailea
Relais & Chateaux now manages the Hotel Wailea. (From 2009 to 2015, it was managed by Aqua Hotels, and before 2009 it was called Diamond Hawaii Resort, but I don’t think of this condo complex as a true resort.) It is uphill in an area of privately-owned condos, far from any beach. There are 72 units, each a 900-square-foot 1-bedroom condo with a kitchenette. The units are in 18 2-story buildings, with 4 units per building. Built in 1990. The central building (which has no condo units) contains a check-in desk, a small exercise room, and an expensive upscale restaurant. The restaurant used to be Capische (Italian), but in 2016 it was changed to “The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea.”
This is an adults-only property. All guests must be 16 years old or older. There is one other adults-only hotel on Maui, the Kohea Kai, and that one is less expensive but less luxurious.
