This is a bigger and better version of the same company’s 808 Deli, which is a tiny sandwich shop in Kihei. But here at 808 on Main in Wailuku, you can get a lot more choices, a better atmosphere, and a feeling of what it is like to eat with local residents instead of tourists.
The excellent food here at 808 on Main earns this restaurant top reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor. There are nine paninis, containing pork, pastrami, tuna, chicken, roast beef, cheese, or turkey. There are seven sandwiches, with tuna, turkey, pastrami, beef, veggies, or pork. The six “signature items” include soup, burgers, pasta, pizza, and salad. The seven salads are Caesar, Main Street, Cobb, Chop, Uncle Chad, Strawberry, and Mahi. There are also seven kinds of burgers, nine appetizers (some of them big enough to be an entree), and a kid’s menu.
The service is cheerful and friendly. All tables are indoors. Open for lunch and dinner, closed on Sundays. The 808 in the restaurant’s name refers to Hawaii’s area code. The “Main” in the name refers to its location on Main Street in Wailuku. Wailuku, the seat of the Maui County government, is adjacent to Kahului in the north part of Maui’s central valley.
