Sam Sato’s Maui
Sam Sato’s Noodles and Plate Lunches
Sam Sato’s is an inexpensive noodles and plate lunches restaurant very popular with people who live on Maui. Few tourists find it in the town where many Maui residents live. It’s at 1750 Wili Pa Loop in The Millyard in Wailuku. Phone 808-244-7124.
Sam Sato’s is only open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast items are standards: eggs, omelettes, hash browns, breakfast meats. Lunch features several varieties of noodle bowls or soups, plus plate lunches (beef, pork, or chicken with rice). Their most popular and most famous dish is “dry noodles” which just means noodles that are not in soup, and they are flavored with Sam Sato’s unique seasoning recipe. They do also have hamburgers and sandwiches. If you can find this place, you can have a whole meal with Maui locals for under $10. This restaurant has been owned by Sam Sato’s family since 1933, now run by the third generation in its fourth Maui location.
